What Draftastic does
It makes teams, for a sports club, a class, a quiz night or a work away-day. You set up a draft, people join on their phones, and the teams appear live on a big screen and on everyone’s phone.
Starting a draft
- Start a draft. You don’t need an account: you can save the draft to one later.
- Setup walks you through what’s needed: a name, the teams, and the people. Anything else is optional.
- Share the link or the six-character join code. People join on their phones without an account.
Ways to make the teams
- Hand-pick: you put people on teams yourself.
- Captains: each team has a captain, and captains take turns to pick on their phones, with a timer if you want one.
- Deal: Draftastic makes fair teams for you, balanced on the answers people gave. You can also describe what you want in your own words, such as “keep Sam and Alex apart”.
- Choose: people pick the team they want, up to the places you allow.
- Preferences: people say who they’d like to be with, and Deal takes it into account.
Questions, such as a position or a skill, are optional. They make Deal fairer and help captains choose.
The big screen
Open the Stage on a laptop connected to a projector, or add a TV: choose “Add a TV” on the Stage, open the link it gives on the TV, and type the code the TV shows. The TV then follows the draft by itself.
Joining a draft
- Join with a code, or open the link you were sent. Type your name and you’re in.
- Your phone becomes your Ticket: it shows your team when you’re picked, and anything the organiser asks you.
- Changing phones? On your Ticket, choose “Open on another device”.
Drafts for children
Choose the School setting. Only first names are shown, there is no chat, answers stay with you, joining needs the code, and children’s names are never sent to AI. Read the privacy notice for more.
Ideas for your group
The guides cover making fair teams for five-a-side, captains’ picks, classroom groups, away-days and quiz nights.
