Teams that mix departments, for socials and away-days

Colleagues join from a link and pick their department. Deal spreads every department across the teams, so people work with someone new. Then each challenge’s scores go up on the meeting room screen.

How the social goes

  1. Every department on every team

When colleagues join, they pick their department. Deal spreads each one across the teams, so people work with someone new. It says how fair the teams are, too.

Then each phone shows its owner’s team. Nobody has to find their name on a list.

Sam’s phone. He works in Sales, and he’s on the Owls.

  2. Pick an activity, or wait for a place

Some activities only have a few places. For those, start a second draft with Choose. Everyone puts their name down for one on their phone.

When an activity is full, people can join its waiting list. If someone drops out, the first one waiting gets the place.

Sam’s phone. He’s 2nd in line for kayaking.

  3. Every challenge on the big screen

Each challenge is a round on the scoreboard. When one ends, give every team its points from your phone. The meeting room screen adds them up and shows who leads.

How it’s set up

Questions office organisers ask

Do colleagues need an account?
No. They join from a link or a code and type their name. Nobody signs up, and there’s nothing to install.
Can the results go to Slack or Teams?
Yes. In Setup, paste the address of a Slack or Teams channel. Setup says where to find it. The teams are posted there when they’re final, and the winners at the end.
Can we keep two people apart?
Yes. In Setup, under Teams, add a Keep apart rule with their names. Deal puts them on different teams. Only organisers see the rule.
Can people working from home take part?
Yes. They join from the same link and see the scores on their phone or laptop. Add the Location question, Office or Remote, and Deal spreads them across the teams too.
Can I just make quick random groups for a meeting?
Yes. Use the free team generator. Paste the names, choose how many teams, and it mixes them at random.
